HIGH ALPINE PANORAMA TRAIL
Tiefenbach Glacier - VentThe recently installed hiking trail starts at the Tiefenbach glacier car park, leading through glacier snouts, cirques and rift valleys down to the glacier village of Vent. The route is slightly to moderately descending and offers uninterrupted panoramic views of the majestic Ötztal and Stubai Alps. Uphill bus ride along the glacier road to Tiefenbach glacier; return ride by bus from Vent.
ZIRMKOGL PEAK TOUR (3,280 m)
A 3000-meter adventure for slightly advanced hikers and mountain fans. The ascent from Seenplatte lake area to Gurgler Schartl ridge (2,932 m) is quite exhausting but the moderately rising section via Stockferner glacier to the peak offers rewarding views of the surrounding mountain ranges including the Ortler summit and the Southern Alps. GLACIER TOUR
Via Rotmoosferner glacier to Zwickauerhütte mountain shelter (2,980 m)Uphill with the Hohe Mut glacier lift to 2,670 m above sea level. Here you start the hike across Mutsattel ridge, following the glacier snouts of Rotmoos glacier. Secured by a rope team you ascend across the white glacier field to Rotmoosjoch saddleback (3,055 m), crossing the border of the main Alpine ridge in the vicinity of Zwickauerhütte mountain hut. After a stopover you continue the descent down to Pfelders/South Tyrol in the upper Passeiertal valley. Return by hiker's shuttle bus via Timmelsjoch pass.
FOOTPATH LEADING FROM THE TOP MOUNTAIN STAR TO THE WURMKOGL PEAK
The brand new and well-secured footpath takes passionate hikers from the Top Mountain Star to the Wurmkogl peak (3.082 m).
The route was recently installed by the mountain experts of Ötztal Tourismus, and features steel ropes and footbridges for the hikers' safety.
Hochgurgl offers a really breathtaking mountain experience at some 3.000 m above sea level, coupled with uninterrupted panoramic views of the Alpine scenery. The ascent from the Top Mountain Star up to the Wurmkogl peak takes approx. 15 minutes.
HUT TO HUT HIKES
With more than 20 summits higher than 3000 meters Obergurgl-Hochgurgl has everything a mountaineer's heart could possibly desire.4 huts run by the Alpine Association (sections Hamburg, Karlsruhe and Zwickau), Schönwieshütte (2262 m) at the entrance to Rotmoostal valley and 3 other serviced mountain shelters offer a great variety of easy tours and high Alpine routes. From Ramolhaus (3005 m) you can enjoy stunning views of the mighty glaciers, picturesque Hochwildehaus (2866 m) and Karlsruher Hütte (2430 m) within Langtalereck area. A splendid glacier trek leads from Rotmoos glacier towards Zwickauer Hütte (2980 m) in the Italian Tyrol (mountain guide absolutely required!). Spending a night in these high Alpine shelters and watching the sunrise amid the majestic peaks make a truly unforgettable experience.
